Build writing, reading, and creativity skills.

This multimedia creativity tool combines a word processor, a paint program, and design projects into one dynamic package to expand your students' language skills

Students in Kindergarten through fourth grade have been creating and publishing their own books on a variety of topics. (Animal tracks, 100's Day, Favorite Animals, Family)

Animated Books

Mrs. Kenney and Mrs. Antoine are working in collaboration with second grade teachers and students in the creation of animated books. Students are writing stories, getting their picture taken in front of a green screen, narrating their stories using Audacity, illustrating their stories and putting it all together using Sam Animation to produce an Animated book for each student!

Game Maker

Fifth and Sixth grade students are using GameMaker from YoYo Games to create their own interactive online games. This course encourages students to apply many higher order thinking skills through problem solving, becoming immersed in cause and effect, conducting research, using trial and error, and sharing their products with classmates and then the world. Students are gaining experience in a "hot" career field.

Teen Entrepreneur

Seventh and Eight Grade students are involved in creating their own businesses. They are collaborating in groups of 2 to 3 students to compile a business plan complete with market analysis, cost analsis, letterhead, business cards, brochures, resume, mailing list and website. Thanks to local business owners who have visited our classroom to speak to the students about their real life business experiences.

All students at Ellis School receive technology training. For grades k-6, receive training in a Unified Arts class held once every 6 days (in the 6 class rotation schedule). Grades 7 and 8 attend 4 days a week on a 6 week rotation. All computer classes are taught by Mrs. Kenney.

Ms. Kenney has been teaching for 16 years. She has a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Salem State and a master's degree in Technology in Education from Lesley University. Besides teaching, she loves animals and physical fitness.
