RE: Ellis Roof Safety
DATE: February 18, 2015
Due to the recent concerns regarding the status of the roofs at the Ellis School under the unusually large snow load of the past month, we want the public to know that they can be assured that the roofs are monitored regularly and will be cleared as needed to protect the safety of our students and staff.
For your general information, I am posting three documents pertaining to the history of roof care at the Ellis School.
These documents are:
- The complete history of the roof collapse of 2001 and the recovery process.
- A subsequent structural engineering report dated 2003 by Gale Engineering on the Ellis School roofs.
- A subsequent structural engineering report dated 2011 by Steffenson Engineering on the Modular roofs.
The personnel of SAU 83 hold the assurance of the safety of everyone involved with our district as the most important job of this office. We thank the community of Fremont for its vigilance in this regard as well.
