Welcome to the Fremont Preschool Program! We are an integrated preschool program for children ages 3-5. The primary purpose of the Fremont Preschool Program is to provide a free, appropriate public education to children with disabilities that are between the ages of 3-5. By federal and state law, local school districts must work with families and community partners to find, identify and serve children who are eligible for special education and related services so that services can begin by the child's third birthday. An Individualized Education Program is developed for each eligible child based on that child’s strengths and needs. In addition, children from the community are also enrolled in the program for a fee. If you are interested in enrolling your 3-5 year-old in the Fremont Preschool Program, please contact Nan Perry, Special Education Secretary at 895-2511 xt:425 and have your child placed on our waiting list. Our community peers are chosen through a lottery system in the late spring.
Child Find systems ensure that school districts have formal policies and procedures in place to locate, identify, and evaluate all children suspected to be children with disabilities using the special education process. As part of the Child Find services, The Fremont Preschool Program offers 2-3 free developmental screening for all preschool children suspected to have an educational disability throughout the school year. This screening is available to children between 2 and 6 years of age. If you have concerns about your child's development, please contact Nan Perry at 895-2511 xt 425 for more information.
The Fremont Preschool Program consists of two, multi-age classes. Our morning program runs Monday-Thursday from 8:30-11:00 and has a student capacity of 12. Our afternoon program runs from Monday-Thursday from 12:00-2:55 and has a student capacity of 15. The Fremont Preschool Program utilizes the Creative Curriculum for Preschool as a foundation for curriculum decisions. The Creative Curriculum System is a research based curriculum that integrates all areas of development into center based learning experiences. The Creative Curriculum is used across the country in both general education and special education programs. In addition to the Creative Curriculum, elements of other curriculums such as Everyday Math® and Handwriting Without Tears® are also utilized at the preschool level.
The Fremont Preschool Program offers students a high quality early childhood education. Each class is staffed with a classroom teacher/case manager that holds dual certification in Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Special Education and a qualified assistant teacher. Together, along with a Speech Pathologist, Occupational Therapist and Physical Therapist, they collaborate to provide developmentally appropriate activities that utilize hands-on learning across all academic and social domains.
